Olympic Athletes Love Marijuana Too:

The World Anti-Doping Agency Removes CBD From Prohibited List

It's February of 2018 and the Winter Olympics has begun in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

In celebration, we at Bluelistme.com wanted to acknowlege the athletes who take medical marijuana as part of their training routine to keep down swelling and reduce pain.

You man never have heard of Ross Rebagliati so we're introducing you to him here. He has been an advocate for pot use among international athletes for that last 20 years.

The WADA Voted

Late in 2017, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced it would remove cannabidiol from the prohibited substances list. It went into effect Jan. 1 of this year.

The move overturns part of what the New York Times called the Ross Rebagliati Rule. Ross Rebagliati was a 1998 Canadian snowboard Gold Medalist.

Rebagliati tested positive for trace amounts of marijuana at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics.

Cannabis reform advocates say, removing CBD from the banned substances list is a good move.

At first Rebagliati was stripped of his gold medal, but the IOC’s decision was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Since then, Rebagliati has taken up the cannabis cause. In 2013 he founded his own medical marijuana company called 'Ross’s Gold'.

CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabis compound that is said to have potent medicinal benefits.

It's Good For You

Many athletes say CBD helps reduce seizures due to illness or injury. Many of these athletes come from contact sports such as NFL football and mixed martial arts performers such as Nate Diaz.

They say medical marijuana had help treat inflammation and joint and muscle pain.

At a news conference Nate Diaz said this:

“It helps with the healing process and inflammation, stuff like that. So you want to get these for before and after fights, training. It’ll make your life a better place.”

CBD is one of the most effective substances for treating inflammatory issues, aches and pains caused by the physical punishment world-class athletes regularly endure.

That'a according to Rebagliati who also said,

“Athletes love it.”
